Biography

Mike Warwick has been with PNNL for 23 years. Prior to joining PNNL, he worked in the utility industry as a manager for resource planning, load forecasting, and conservation program planning and evaluation and as a consultant in these areas as well as utility operations and management auditing. He has a total of 35 years of experience in the utility industry and is especially valued for his insights into interactions between competitive markets and utility operations, including interactions among loads, resources, energy infrastructure, and utility operating and regulatory requirements. He recently completed a DOD assessment of renewable resource development, procurement, and energy security and is currently assisting DOD and the Services to implement recommendations from the assessment, including site specific renewable resource assessments for all major Army and Air Force installations world-wide and many major Navy facilities. He has worked extensively with military facilities and utilities in Alaska and Hawaii as well as with the respective major state energy agencies. Mike has served on the Defense Science Board’s Energy Panel and is an expert in utility energy security concerns and integration of renewables into military and utility power grids. Mike's other clients include DOE, individual military services and other federal agencies, state regulatory commissions, and utilities. Mike graduated with a BS in 1971 and MS in 1976 in resource economics from Oregon State University and has taken graduate courses in regional planning at the University of Oregon and University of Wisconsin.
