Biography

Jim started at PNNL in 1992 and has served as a building-science researcher, analyst, and software developer. In 2005, he joined the physics department at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN where he currently works as an instructor. In 2010, Jim rejoined PNNL and is continuing part-time development work in the TPD group on the rooftop unit specification and simulation project.

Project topics at PNNL:

  • Assessment, modeling, and analysis:
    • Grant county irrigation conservation strategies,
    • Residential duct performance measures,
    • NYPA/NYCHA refrigerator replacement program,
    • EPAct commercial space-conditioning equipment modeling and analysis,
    • Field monitoring of gas-engine and ground-source heat pumps,
  • Software development:
    • Web-based GIS application for FEMP,
    • HUDT energy and cost accounting system for PNNL's facility department,
    • Web-based UAC/RAC air-conditioner simulations,
    • Interactive web-based control and monitoring applications for building systems.
